The kids did a great job of working through their take-home book (Puff)
and creating addition art. They also completed centers and some reading
assessments. I helped them finish their field trip t-shirts today and
they look great! This afternoon, the children will be visiting the gym,
music room, and computer lab. They will also create some pigs and ducks
for our animal unit. We are looking forward to the zoo trip tomorrow.
For those attending, see you there at about 9:45! We hope to stick
around until 1:30. Thanks!

proud of themselves and the hard work they have put in. We also played

some different farm animals and create a book called "In the Barn".
Enjoy the beautiful weather!

The countdown is on:)

The children have been counting down the days on our morning calendar.
As of this morning, we had twelve days of school left. Wow! The kids
journaled this morning and played a game of sand and sea adding. We also
completed centers and gave the room a little cleaning. This afternoon,
we will learn a little about farm animals and visit the library and gym.
The children will no longer be checking out library books. Have a great
day!

Half Day Today!

The children worked very hard and completed a lot of work in a short
period of time! Today, we completed a take home book (The Quilt) and
wrapped up our touch math unit. We will continue using Touch Math off
and on over the next two weeks. During reading, the children worked on
five different assessments that we actually completed whole group. We
also completed centers. The children completed a lot of work so after
reading a spider story this afternoon, I gave them a twenty minute
playtime before packing for home. It is amazing how quickly the end of
the year is approaching. There are only twelve days of kindergarten
left! What a bittersweet things to say as a teacher. Have a great
weekend:)

Roasty Toasty Day!

The children were very excited to come in their jammies today, but they
did a fabulous job of focusing at work times. We completed centers,
switched our table spots one last time, and toured the other classrooms
in the school while children were at the high school for track. We also
had an outside gym time. This afternoon, the kids will watch a movie
about farm animals to prepare for our animal unit next week and have
some time to use sidewalk chalk and bubbles. Have a great day!

A Beautiful Day

The children worked on reading and writing sentences today. We also
practiced adding using touch math (see
http://www.touchmath.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=WYT.welcome&page=AboutTouchMath
for an explanation). The kids continued to discuss insects and we
decorated some ladybugs. The kids will practice one last fire drill this
afternoon and they will visit the gym, music room, and computer lab.
Have a great day!

Have a great weekend!

The children worked hard and took a spelling and math test today. They
also finished testing with me while a sub stayed in the classroom. This
afternoon, we will visit with reader pals and release our butterflies.
The kids were a little sad, but excited to be doing this!

It's Raining, It's Pouring...

The children enjoyed a wonderful presentation this morning from a world
champion jump roper. He taught the kids that if they want to be good at
something they will need to work hard and practice every day. They
really enjoyed the jump roping in the dark section of the program. The
kids worked with me for awhile today as well as a sub so that I could
work on testing. ALL the kids are doing a great job on their testing and
I have no concerns sending them to first grade. You will receive reports
at the end of the school year, however if you would like to know scores
earlier, just give me a call or send me an email. This afternoon, I will
continue testing. The children will visit the gym and library. Another
Leaps and Bounds class will be paying us a visit and we will also make
some butterflies. Have a great day!

:)

The kids had a great day of being the teacher. The Leaps and Bounds
classes came into the classroom to see what kindergarten is like and the
kindergarten students showed them the ropes. They were very mature and
excellent helpers! We were also able to practice sounding out words and
subtraction today. This afternoon, the kids will be visiting the gym,
music room, and the science fair (put on by grades 4-6). I will be
ordering field trip t-shirts today. Thanks to all who sent money in and
to all of those who are volunteering on the 28th. We will have nice,
small groups for the trip because of all the help. Have a great day!

game. They will be sent home with the children today. In math, we

a story about Humphrey the whale. This afternoon, we will do some
journaling and start our insect unit. The kids will also visit the gym
and library. Have a great day!

Raindrops keep falling on my head!

The children worked hard at sounding out words today that all had
"tricks" within. Words such as bear and moose were quite confusing at
times! We practiced subtracting and journaling as well. This afternoon,
the children will visit the gym, music room, and computer lab. The
children will be bringing home their Zinnia plants today, so watch for a
red cup with a seedling! Have a good day:)

The children worked hard today and we were able to get a lot done. We
sounded out words with both long and short vowel sounds, practiced
subtracting numbers to ten, completed centers, and read a story about
frogs with excellent pictures. This afternoon, the children will go
outside for gym, visit the music room, and create a class book about the
grown-ups who take care of them. Thanks for sending in tin cans, we were
able to get enough. Have a wonderful day!

Welcome back Monday

The children tried very hard to harness their energy this morning and we
were able to finish our reading and math for the morning. We practiced a
few of the reading tricks we learn in kindergarten (ee, ou, wh, and gh).
The new subtraction unit in math had us subtracting with pictures today.
We also discussed some pronouns (he, she, it, we, they) and completed
some new centers. Barnum's PTA generously supplied us with three new MP3
players so the children had a nicer way to listen to stories in the
reading center. A big thanks goes to our wonderful PTA! This afternoon,
the children will work in their memory books (you will receive these on
the last day of school), discuss how thankful we are for the grownups
who take care of us (Mother's Day), and visit the library and gym. Have
a wonderful day!
